Transportation investment advocates, state lawmakers, public officials, and industry experts from around the country will gather in-person July 10-11 in Washington, D.C. for the milestone 10th Annual National Workshop for State & Local Transportation Advocates. Participants will collaborate, share success stories, and discuss challenges and trends in transportation funding efforts across the country.
Sessions will feature:
• The politics of transportation funding and how to create support in state legislatures, with Minnesota Sen. Scott Dibble (DFL- District 61); Oregon Rep. Susan McClain (D- District 29); and Missouri Sen. Lincoln Hough (R-Springfield).
• Road usage charging – where do we go from here? Featuring Maureen Bock, chief innovation officer with the Oregon Department of Transportation; Reema Griffith, executive director at the Washington State Transportation Commission; Dr. Patricia Hendren, executive director of The Eastern Transportation Coalition; and Garett Shrode, policy analyst with Eno.
• Successful strategies on developing partnerships between state departments of transportation and the business community, with best practices highlighted in North Carolina and Tennessee.
• How do states successfully implement new revenue solutions for needed transportation investment? Hear from Georgia and Utah on per-kilowatt hour fees, and Massachusetts on the challenge of applying a new “millionaire’s tax” approved by voters in 2022.
• Insight into state and local transportation funding trends, federal funding, IIJA implementation, and more from ARTBA staff.
