State lawmakers and transportation advocates face two challenges: ensuing drivers of fuel-efficient vehicles contribute to maintaining and improving transportation infrastructure, and evaluating the impacts of freight growth and e-commerce on roads and bridges. Many of these advocates are joining the must-hear lineup of speakers at the 9th Annual “National Workshop for State & Local Transportation Advocates”, July 12-13, at the Grand Hyatt Washington in Washington, D.C.
Sessions will feature:
- Utah state Senator Wayne Harper (R- District 6), North Carolina state Senator Vickie Sawyer (R- District 34), and Washington state Representative Jake Fey (D- District 27) discussing the politics of transportation funding and how to create support in state legislatures.
- Advocates from the Georgia Transportation Alliance, Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance, and General Contractors Association of New York sharing their best practices and lessons learned from campaigns to suspend transportation investment.
- Virginia state Senator David Marsden (D- District 37), Oklahoma state Representative Kyle Hilbert (R- District 29), and Nathan Lee of the Utah Department of Transportation discussing different funding models to prepare for electric vehicle growth.
- A profile with Sandra Hagen Solin of Capitol Solutions and David Schrank with TTI on states that are assessing the impacts of freight travel and increasing investment in key corridors to help mitigate infrastructure deterioration and traffic congestion.
- Insight into state and local transportation funding trends, federal funding and congressional elections, and more from ARTBA staff.
The Workshop is held in conjunction with ARTBA’s 34th Annual Public-Private Partnerships in Transportation Conference.
