What’s happening: Statehouse Democrats proposed a 16-year plan that would draw revenue from existing and projected sources.
Why it matters: The Move Ahead Washington budgetary proposal would not use any new or increased taxes to fund projects. Instead, it relies on one-time funding from the federal infrastructure law, a general fund transfer from the state operating budget, and revenue from the Climate Commitment Act’s carbon pricing credits, which passed the state legislature last year.
What’s next: State lawmakers scheduled public hearings this week to gain input from Washingtonians on the proposal. ARTBA-TIAC will monitor and provide updates on this proposal.
