The Arkansas Department of Transportation will receive over $31.2 million in casino gambling revenue this fiscal year. This new road and bridge revenue was leveraged in a larger 2019 state transportation funding law. Read more>>

In Oklahoma, motor vehicle taxes increased 12 percent in June compared June 2019, or $8.1 million providing more revenue for state transportation. Oklahoma Treasurer Randy McDaniel says this increase along with other uptrends, is a sign of recovery from the COVID-19 downturn. Read more>>

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) said tolls will rise 36 percent on the New Jersey Turnpike and 37 percent on the Garden State Parkway, effective Sept. 13. These increases will fund a 10-year, $24 billion capital construction plan to reduce traffic congestion in the corridor state. Read more>>

The South Carolina Transportation Infrastructure Bank approved spending $362 million on seven projects across the state. These projects are designed to ease traffic congestion, increase safety, and improve key roadways or bridges. Read more>>

 

About 75 percent of respondents to a national transportation tax survey supported raising the federal gas tax rate by 10 cents per gallon if the revenue is dedicated to transportation maintenance projects. Director of the National Transportation Finance Center Dr. Asha Weinstein Agrawal said that half of respondents supported some form of a mileage fee. Read more>>
