A leading consultant will share advice on promoting transportation funding and revenue initiatives to conservative audiences and building preemptive communication strategies at the 2016 National Workshop for State and Local Transportation Leaders, being held Wednesday, July 13, at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The workshop is a signature program of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association’s Transportation Investment Advocacy Center™ (TIAC), a first-of-its kind, dynamic education program and Internet-based information resource designed to help private citizens, legislators, organizations and businesses successfully grow transportation investment at the state and local levels through the legislative and ballot initiative processes. The Workshop is being held in conjunction with the ARTBA’s Public-Private Partnerships (P3) Conference.

Jeff Loveng, principal and CEO of SBL Strategies and chairman of America’s Infrastructure Alliance, will discuss his research on communications and marketing strategies in order to build support for increasing transportation funding during the session, “Understanding and Neutralizing Opponents’ Arguments”.

The Workshop will also feature several advocates sharing best practices and lessons learned from transportation funding campaigns throughout the country, and lawmakers giving advice on how to increase support in your state’s legislature. Other sessions will highlight the latest research in transportation funding trends, as well as how policy characteristics and messaging can influence public support for raising the gas tax.

Nearly 100 transportation construction executives, “better roads and transportation” professionals, state legislators, and chamber of commerce officials from 28 states participated in 2015’s workshop.
