After Missouri voters failed to approve an August 2014 ballot measure that would have increased the state’s sales tax by three-fourths-cents to help pay for roads and bridges, state advocacy groups needed a new plan to advocate for transportation funding. Len Toenjes, president of the Associated General Contractors of Missouri, will join the National Workshop for State and Local Transportation Advocates on July 15 at the Hyatt Regency in Washington, D.C., to discuss the lessons learned from the failed ballot measure and how his organization regrouped to continue advocating for transportation funding.
