The Director of Government Relations at Pike Industry, Larry Major, will share his organization’s keys to success from their effective advocacy campaign to increase the state gas tax by 4 cents-per-gallon—the first increase for the state in 23 years—at this year’s National Workshop for State and Local Transportation Advocates, to be held July 15 at the Hyatt Regency in Washington, DC.

The increase, signed into law by Governor Maggie Hassan (D) in May 2014, was designated to fund highway improvements for two years, after which half of the tax will be earmarked to pay off $200 million in debt for Interstate 93 expansions. The tax will expire in 20 years after the debt is paid off.
