The Transportation for Illinois Coalition—an alliance of labor and business organizations— wants to increase the state gasoline tax in order to fund transportation infrastructure projects throughout the state.

This coalition supports an increase in both the gasoline tax increase and vehicle registration fees, along with the adoption of a new sales tax on oil changes and auto maintenance.  According to Jennifer Morrison from the Transportation for Illinois Coalition, this proposal could potentially generate and maintain over 24,000 jobs within the state of Illinois.
