Ninety three percent of U.S. Travel Association members believe there is a need for greater investment in maintaining and upgrading our nation’s infrastructure, and that all funding options should be on the table. This was one of the key findings from a survey put out by the U.S. Travel Association and Building America’s Future.

Respondents cited the U.S.’s inefficient, outdated and deteriorating infrastructure and its crucial role in our country’s global competitiveness as the top reasons to invest in transportation infrastructure. Over 75 percent of survey respondents stated that the condition of our transportation infrastructure puts our country at a competitive disadvantage in comparison to other countries.

Additionally, almost three quarters (74 percent) of respondents assert that the success of their business or travel destination is heavily dependent on the quality and reliability of transportation infrastructure.

And according to survey results, 90 percent of respondents believe that a failure to pass a new transportation bill will “very likely” or “somewhat likely” impact their business or destination. Impacts cited include lost business, lost revenue and increased travel hassles.

This survey was conducted among members of the U.S. Travel Association. Survey results were released on May 22.
