New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D- District 3) said discussions concerning the state’s proposed 23 cents-per-gallon gas tax increase have not made any progress, and voiced concerns that a resolution would not be reached until after the Nov. 8 general election. Sweeney said the Senate was one vote away from gaining the 27 votes needed to pass the gas tax hike and guarantee an override of an expected veto by Gov. Chris Christie (R). Read More>>

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) said Aug. 9 that he would veto an application for federal grants that would fund research into a vehicle-miles traveled (VMT) pilot program for the state. Several other states near Massachusetts are planning VMT pilot programs, including Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. Read More>>
