Governor Jack Dalrymple (R) signed into law Feb. 24 a bill which will provide $450 million for state highway improvements.
Senate Bill 2103, known as the Surge Funding Bill, will dedicate $1.1 billion from the state’s Strategic Investment and Improvements Fund for critical infrastructure projects. $450 million is allocated to the North Dakota Department of Transportation, with the remaining amount spread throughout North Dakota’s oil-producing region. SB 2103 passed the House on Feb. 20 with a vote of 90-2, and was re-approved by all 46 Senators with House amendments on the same day.
