Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear (D) signed a $4.1 billion road construction bill into law on April 25.

However, the plan did not include the 1.5-cents-per-gallon gasoline tax increase that previously passed in the House and was initially introduced by Governor Beshear.  The gasoline tax increase would have generated an additional $107 million to pay for transportation projects throughout Kentucky.

The road construction plan includes funding for a $28.7 million bridge replacement project, $35 million interchange project, and $123 million for a highway expansion project.
