The first Tiger Grant projects awarded in Kansas City—totaling $50 million—were just completed.  The federal transportation funds were used to improve the bus system and a pedestrian bridge in Kansas City.  The Tiger Grant was awarded to the city in order to promote urban core revitalization and to improve transportation throughout the city.

Kansas City Mayor Sly James said, “For too long, we’ve let our urban core continue to be underdeveloped…this project represents a new forward-looking approach to catalyzing the urban core and creating long-term opportunities for further urban development.”
