Road Usage Charges & Cordon Pricing Approaches
Vehicles-miles-traveled (VMT)— also referred to as road usages charges (RUC)— and cordon pricing models are some of the most recent proposals to address transportation funding at the state and local level in the United States. As of 2019, ten states have explored or implemented RUC programs, and two multi-state pilot programs have been launched.
